Dynamiq Managers Seminar April 2008
Dynamiq Cleaning held its first managers’ seminar at the prestigious Penny Hill Park Hotel in Bagshot, Surrey. Paul Randall Dynamiq Support Services Director who organised the event and saw it as an opportunity to bring all the national, senior operational staff, sales team, administration staff and directors together; which in itself is a feat, given the day to day challenges that a growing business like Dynamiq’s brings. |

Jim Yorston CEO of the Dynamiq Group opened the seminar by explaining how the business had grown over the last 3 years. He highlighted significant changes that had taken place which included two acquisitions in 2007. One was Interclean Bus Services, which has given Dynamiq a strong foundation from which to break into the transport cleaning market and the other, a window cleaning business in Scotland. Jim also commented that Dynamiq is a robust and experienced business due to the commitment and professional approach of the senior operations team. Jim also made a point of thanking all the field based staff for their rigid control of expenditure. He explained that it was his intention to continue growing the business in a controlled manner some of which would come from new contract wins and the other from one or possibly two strategic acquisitions. The day saw a number of key speakers who gave informative presentations on key areas that affect the contract cleaning market.
Probably the most topical at this moment in time was immigration. With nearly 4,000 staff nationally, Dynamiq places high importance in insuring that it’s staff involved in recruitment are kept up to speed with up to date legislation. Sid Doukali an area Operations Manager (South) gave a light hearted presentation (his first in front of senior management, well done Sid) that took the attendees through a typical day in the life of a contract manager. He was ably assisted some would say! by cleaning operative “huggy Paul Randall”. Sid pointed out the various complications that could arise in a business that is very much reliant on the staff turning up for work and how proactive action could be taken to ensure the minimum amount of disruption could be planned for in the event of this happening. Other presentations included a summary on corporate responsibility for Health and Safety and Investors in People overview of The Standard. The managers were presented with the new Hourly Paid Contract of Employment for discussion at group level prior to the final draft being approved for use by the Group Human Resources department. The penultimate presentation allowed for discussion on the training policy of the Dynamiq Cleaning Group and how this should addressed for the various levels of employee and management alike. At the end of the day the senior management were asked to be involved in an open forum where they fielded questions on number of topics from training, payroll, the investors in people program and long term plans for the Dynamiq Group. All in all the day was an outstanding success, arranged with military precision, as one would expect, given that Paul Randall who put the day together is a retired Major from Her Majestey’s Army. The attendees all commented that it was very informative and productive day and look forward to the next one well done Paul. |
